1. The segment LCD display should prevent the application of DC voltage:
The smaller the DC component of the driving voltage, the better. Do not exceed 50mV at most. Long-term application of excessive DC components will cause electrolysis and electrode aging, which will reduce the life.
2. The segment LCD display should be protected from ultraviolet rays:
Liquid crystals and polarizers are organic substances, which will undergo photochemical reactions and degradation under ultraviolet light. Therefore, when assembling liquid crystal display devices, consider whether it is necessary to install an anti-ultraviolet filter or other anti-ultraviolet methods in the front according to its purpose and use environment. Avoid long-term direct sunlight when using it.
3. The segment LCD display should prevent the erosion of harmful gases:
Liquid crystals and polarizers are organic, and chemical reactions and degradation occur in the environment of harmful gases. Therefore, measures to isolate harmful gases should be taken when using them. In addition, after the whole machine is assembled, do not store it in a sealed manner for a long time to prevent plastic casing and The excessive concentration of the chemical gas generated by the circuit board cleaning agent damages the liquid crystal and the polarizer.
4. The segment LCD display should be prevented from being squeezed by force:
The LCD is made of two pieces of glass, with only 510um between them, which is very thin. Moreover, the inner surface of the glass is coated with a layer of oriented film, which is easy to damage. Therefore, excessive pressure cannot be applied to the surface of the LCD screen to avoid damage to the alignment layer. In case of excessive pressure or hand-pressing of the device during the assembly process, it shall be allowed to stand for an hour before turning on the power. Remember not to have drastic temperature changes during the power-on process. The pressure should be even when installing, only press the side of the device, not the middle, or tilt and force.
5. As the segment code LCD exceeds a certain temperature range, the liquid crystal state will disappear:
Therefore, it must be stored and used within the specified temperature range. If the temperature is too high, the liquid crystal state will disappear and become liquid, the display surface will be black, and it will not work. Please be careful not to power on at this time, and it can recover by itself after the temperature drops. If the temperature is too low, the liquid crystal begins to freeze, causing permanent damage. In addition, if stored at extreme temperatures for a long time or subjected to vibration or shock, the LCD will also generate bubbles.
6. Prevent segment LCD glass from breaking:
Since the display device is made of glass, if it is lost, the glass will definitely break. Therefore, the assembly method and the vibration and impact resistance of the assembly must be considered during the design of the whole machine.
7. Moisture-proof of segment LCD devices:
Due to the low voltage and low power consumption of liquid crystal display devices, the resistivity of liquid crystal materials is extremely high (above 1X1010Ω). Therefore, the conductivity of the glass surface caused by moisture may cause the phenomenon of "stringing" between segments when the device is displayed. Therefore, the design of the whole machine must consider moisture-proof. In normal times, try to place it at a temperature of 5-30 degree and a humidity of 65 percent .
8. Cleaning treatment of segment LCD devices:
Since the surface of the liquid crystal is made of plastic polarizers and reflectors, scratches and stains should be avoided during assembly and storage. In addition, there is a protective film on the front polarizer, which is removed during use. If the surface of the device is contaminated, it can be treated with a soft muslin cloth or cotton. If you must use solvents to clean, you can only use isopropanol (glycerin), alcohol, freon, and never use acetone, aromatic solvents, such as toluene, etc., otherwise the polarizer on the surface of the device will be damaged.
9. If it is a segment LCD with metal pins:
When soldering pins, the solder joints should be 4mm or more away from the roots, and they should not be subjected to excessive force or overheating to avoid damage to the connection. The maximum temperature resistance of the joint shall not exceed 80 degree . Do not use detergent to clean the pins, because the detergent will decompose chlorine in sunlight and form hydrochloric acid after absorbing water, which will corrode the electrode.
10. Pen-segment LCD devices are driven by COMS circuits, so you must also pay attention to:
No input signal shall be added when the display module module is not powered on. Static electricity must be prevented during assembly. Wear anti-static overalls. The human body must be grounded. The workbench, soldering iron, tools, etc. must be connected to the ground wire.
